7 Khoon Maaf - Not for faint hearted

Although the poster of the movie may make you think, that probably it is the hindi remake of Kill Bill, but it is not. Inspired by a short story by Ruskin Bond, 7 Khoon Maaf is a show case of talent and originality in Indian Cinema. The story of Susanna told through the eyes of a constant character, where different husbands come and die. The movie dose not talk about right or wrong, never intends ever to take a moral high ground not even tries to justify anything, makes it a beautiful and unadulterated watch.

The movie requires from its viewers to be mature and imaginative, although at times you may feel some sequences have become weird without requirement, but barring that the movie dose full justice to the story. Vishal Bhardwaj has shown yet again  what type of talent he contains, execution of a lot of sequences is just excellent, the dialogues are just fabulous, they couldn't have been better. Although a few songs could have been cut short, but the beautiful wordings of Gulzar more than makes for that.

Performance wise Anu Kapoor surprises you, his stand out performance you may even make you think that his talent have never been utilised properly before, Vivaan Shah as the narrator and one of the few constant character of the movie impresses you with his fine dialogue delivery, Priyanka Chopda's choice of subjects and her approach to charecterization can't be ignored, the man playing the butler dose a commendable job, Usha Uthup has been wasted, other actor playing 'Gunga' dose the job well. Ruskin Bond in a special appearance looks gracious, and the special appearance by Konkona Sen Sharma could have been spared.  All the husbands (Neil Nitin, John, Irfaan, Aleksandr, Anu Kapoor, Naseer)  dose there job well, but to be honest nobody could leave the mark apart from Anu Kapoor.

On the whole yet another good movie to watch, people who love dark movies would find this one amusing and while watching the movie may start wondering who actually will be the Seventh and last Husband.

i have also watched the movie and more or less i agree to all your points. the movie is not able to showcase the pain suffered by sussana and this aspect is not well covered and it is the one of the best act of priyanka.movie will be mediocore in terms of box office earnings.
but its a movie which deserves critical acclaim.

  2. hi indar
i feel the length of the movie would have been compromised if they would have tried to include her feelings, as well as the movie may well have got into melodrama but still the movie turned out to be a good watch.
Thanks for your comment any way, keep posting..
